Doran Point Buildings in November, Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada

Doran Point Buildings in November | N 44.54.07 W 75.09.19 | Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada

Some foundations and the old highway in the shallows what is now a small island on the eastern outskirts of Morrisburg, Ontario. Some tree stumps are still here. The asphalt of remains intact on the island, but at the water’s edge, sixty years of wave action and freeze/thaws have eroded the road and these foundations. These structures likely belonged to the Allison family who ran a small tourism resort before it, their land and buildings were expropriated by the Seaway Authority.

Photographed in November, with the water at its seasonal low, much of what remains breaches the surface. In fall, the colours and tones of the water are remarkably different than in the spring or summer.
