Lot 3317 E. Campbell Property, Santa Cruz, Ontario

Lot 3317 E. Campbell Property | N 44.59.14 W 74.57.29 | Santa Cruz, Ontario, Canada

The submerged remains of buildings either side of King’s Highway No. 2 in Santa Cruz, Ontario. The former farmlands now grow seaweed instead of grains or hay and are grazed by immense carp instead of cattle. The concrete rectangle is what remains of a building on the Campbell property where the family would have heard the constant roar of the immense, fast flowing Long Sault rapids. These were silenced on July 1, 1958 disappearing under the waves together with Santa Cruz and the other lost villages.
