Doran Point Buildings In May, Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada

Doran Point Buildings In May | N 44.54.03 W 75.09.22 | Morrisburg, Ontario, Canada

Downstream of Morrisburg, Ontario the remains of several buildings lie in the shallow water of what is now an island. Where the water’s waves have not yet washed them away, several tree stumps are still visible. Erosion has chewed away most of the asphalt of the old highway. On the island, however, the highway asphalt is still intact adorned by a dotted white line that appears to be retouched or repainted every few years. The remains of the lost villages attract local attention, be that of divers letting the current carry them along and above the highway or others taking white paint to those places where the asphalt rises out of the water. The look and character of the river varies with the seasons. This aerial photograph, was taken in May, when the colour and clarity of the water was much different than the same scene the previous November.
